RSE was delighted to be named the winner of the Water Industry Awards 2024 Contractor of the Year at last night’s award ceremony in The Vox Conference Centre in Birmingham.

RSE is a trusted clean water technology company, developing market-leading products and services for purifying drinking water, recycling wastewater, and cleaning water in industrial processes. With growth over the last financial period reflecting the group’s strategy to develop regional hubs across the UK, our expansion has established RSE as the 2nd largest MEICA contractor in the UK water industry.

RSE is disrupting the water sector by delivering water treatment products, technologies and services to our clients, providing offsite modular build solutions. Our modular approach ensures scalability, efficiency, quality, safety and easy integration, setting new standards in water treatment and shaping the future of water in the UK. We reinvest 10% of our yearly profits into accelerating the development, introduction and adoption of cutting-edge and sustainable water treatment technologies while constantly challenging industry standards.

In 2023, our teams applied our innovative modular techniques to launch two new product ranges developed specifically to service the requirements of the water industry, including the modular Ceramic Treatment Unit (m-CTU ®) range.

The m-CTU™ is a ceramic ultrafiltration membrane module that offers a plug-and-play approach to water treatment. The unit is scalable for plants with demands ranging from 4ML/D up to 94ML/D. The m-CTU™ drives 33% programme efficiencies, 10% Capex savings and 30% CO2 reductions over current ultrafiltration membrane water treatment plants delivered through traditional build techniques.

Investing in people is also key to RSE’s success and longevity in the water industry and is fundamental to our servant leadership approach. Our commitment to being the contractor of choice has ensured that we invest in talent with a continuous focus on our graduate and apprentices programmes, with intakes growing year on year.

RSE is additionally driving sustainability with our target to reach Net Zero by 2030 in lockstep with the Water UK target and exceeding the Scottish and UK governments’ ambitions. In doing so, RSE has been recognised for driving down our operational emissions by receiving the VIBES Energy Transition Scotland Award, which highlights the company’s commitment to improving environmental performance and supporting the achievement of sustainable development goals.

“This recognition is a true testament to our team’s commitment, dedication, hard work and energy. A huge thank you to the WIA and judges for this prestigious award and to our amazing clients and partners for your unwavering support. This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without our talented and hardworking team”.

Stephen Slessor, RSE CEO, commented on winning the Contractor of the Year award:

“What an amazing night to share with amazing colleagues. This award recognises all of the individual successes contributing to what is a fantastic story, so far.

From the recognition of our amazing team, our innovations, our desire to unlock and develop the talent of our people, our can-do attitude and so much more. This is a journey that is showcasing what can be achieved by being different and is testament to the principles and culture that has been the lifeblood of the organisation from day one”.

Connor Morton, RSE Operations Director, added:

In addition to RSE’s successful nomination at the Water Industry Awards, we were honoured to be sponsoring the Diversity & Inclusion Initiative of the Year award which was presented to the worthy winner Kier Group by our CEO, Stephen Slessor. At the event, Stephen Slessor spoke on the importance of fostering a diverse and inclusive environment where everyone’s contributions are valued and celebrated by the industry. RSE remains steadfast in its commitment to fostering diversity and equality within our organisation and is pleased to observe that the same values are being embraced by the wider industry.

The recognition of the Contractor of the Year Award is a testament to the dedication and expertise of our team in delivering exceptional service and innovation within the water industry. We’re immensely proud of our collective achievement and grateful to be considered amongst the water industry’s finest. The team had a great night receiving the award and we’d like to extend our congratulations to all the other Water Industry Awards 2024 finalists and category winners.
