On Sunday the 1st of October RSE staff participated in the Baxters Loch Ness Marathon and River Ness 10k Corporate Challenge.

Team RSE, made up of Lee Mackenzie, Sean MacDonald, Jamie Miller, Jamie Calder and Ross McShane from our Inverness office completed the 10k course and were very pleased to be able to fundraise £690 for two amazing charities, Maggie’s Highlands and Highland Hospice

Maggie’s Highlands provides free practical, emotional, social support for people living with cancer across the whole of the Highlands and offers a programme of support that has been shown to strengthen physical and emotional wellbeing.

The Highland Hospice is an incredible charity that provides specialist palliative care to improve the quality of life for people throughout the Highlands who have a life-limiting illness.

Sean Macdonald, RSE Mechanical Engineer said: “I’ve been looking to get into running for a while to help get my fitness up, so I was very keen when Jamie suggested we enter a corporate team for the Loch Ness 10k. Knowing the rest of the team was in a similar situation with experience and training really helped with the motivation to get the miles under the belt. Maggie’s and the Highland Hospice are two great charities and provide so much support in the local area, so I was happy to be running for them both!”

RSE would also like to congratulate Jason Manton who raised an amazing £800 running the Loch Ness Marathon for Alzheimer’s Scotland in memory of his late Grandfather, who sadly passed after a 4-year battle with dementia.

Alzheimer’s Scotland is Scotland’s national dementia charity which provides support and information to individuals, carers, and families who have been affected by this cruel disease.

Well done to Team RSE and Jason for completing their marathon and 10k challenges, both amazing achievements and great amounts raised for important charities which we’re proud to support.
